Hello readers. I want you to feel free to take part in promoting the arts for brain health recovery. The contact page is set up so you can send me material exploring how you practice art for your recovery. I only ask that you refrain from advocating self- harm or violence.
I define "art" in broad terms. It can mean visual art, music, poetry and short story writing. It can also mean clay modeling, knitting, sewing and coloring. You might make wreaths or paint coffee cups and stones. You might like to dance or act in a play. Or maybe you like to read and listen to music rather than playing it. I am not going to put limits on what you call art.
I also define brain disease in broad terms. It can mean mental illness, depression, anxiety, PTSD, dementia, Parkinson's or addiction. The term may also refer to other diseases not mentioned here. I don't want to leave anyone out.
If you like to write, such as poetry or short stories. I would be interested in your writings as long as they refer to brain health. If you like to read, then tell about how an author or poet helps you with brain health. If you like to listen to music, tell about a musician or group that you find helpful.
Unfortunately, I do not have the technology yet for you to share audio or video files. Nevertheless, you can send me a story on how you use music or videos for your recovery. Maybe going to the movies helps. Or maybe you like to produce videos. Whatever helps you manage your brain health, please tell a story about it for my readers.
Submissions should be no more than 300 words. Please send a description of your material before sending it. Also, let me know if you'd like to share your name or remain anonymous.
